Beloved husband of Victoria “Vicki” (nee Lammert) of 65 years; dearest father of Karen (the late Randall) Beck and Jeffrey (Angela) Wittman; dear grandpa of Matthew, Barbara, Christopher and the late Michael; our dear uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Ray was a St. Louis City Police Officer, Security Advisor at McDonnell-Douglas and Square Dancer.
Service Wed., November 6, 9:45 a.m. from HUTCHENS MORTUARY, 675 Graham Rd. (Florissant) to St. Martin de Porres, 615 Dunn Rd. (Hazelwood) for 10:00 a.m. MASS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be given to Old St. Ferdinand Shrine. Visitation Tuesday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Eulogy:
Ray was born on January 3, 1932 in the city of St. Louis, Missouri. He lived in St. Louis with his family and then moved to California for several years. They returned to St. Louis and lived on Missouri Avenue in South St. Louis until his marriage.
He married Vicki Lammert, a farmer's daughter, on May 1, 1954. This year [2019] they were married for 65 years. They had one daughter, Karen, who has one daughter and a son who is presently with the Lord, and one son, Jeff, who is married with two sons and two grandchildren.
Ray was in the US Marine Corp prior to his marriage and served in the Reserves for a number of years after his marriage.
He was a policemen for the city of St. Louis for 30 years. He retired in 1984 and then went to work for McDonnell-Douglas as a Security Adviser for 17 years.
Ray and Vicki have been avid square dancers for 40 years. They were the St. Louis District Presidents for the Missouri Federation for many years. Ray was the first president of the St. Louis Metro Square and Round Dance Assn. and hosted a Jamboree. They were honored dancers of the Jamboree in 2002 and this past year in 2019 were the honored dancers of the Missouri Federation. They were presidents of the Wham Bams Square Dance Club for 5 years, and after the club folded, they joined the Missouri Promenaders, of which they are members now.
In 1993 they were the publicity chairmen for the National Square Dance Convention held in St. Louis which attracted approximately 19,000 square dancers from all over the world.
Ray and Vicki loved to travel. Ray loved to read, golf , camp, hunt and fish. Ray was also an artist. It has been said of him: "Provide him with a piece of cardboard and some colored markers and he will create any sign or decoration needed for a special event."
